Green hydrogen is a strong candidate to replace fossil fuels due to its non-pollutant energy-generating system. Water electrolysis produces green hydrogen, but it has not been widely used because of its high operating cost. Anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer, which makes economical utilization of non-platinum group metal(non-PGM) catalyst. Additionally, with chemical and electrical characteristics, such as metallic conductivity, redox activity in transition metals, high hydrophilicity, and adjustable surface properties, MXenes are emerging as important contributors to oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalyst development. In this study, we investigated the synergetic effect by comparing various types of MXene support with cobalt nanoparticles. The synergy between the catalyst and MXene support results in superior electro-catalytic properties and makes it possible to have a stable oxygen evolution reaction. With this result, we show the potential of catalyst-enhancing support research, and MXene electrocatalytic utilization.
