Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered as promising technology for renewable energy economy, owing to its carbon free emissions and green hydrogen usage. The structure of the interface between catalyst electrode layer and polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) is an important part to improve the performance of PEMFC system. In consequnece, various methods for engineering the interface have been reported. In this research, oxygen plasma was conducted on nafion hp membrane surface to fabricate wrinkles of hundred nanometers scale for increasing surface area, which accordingly represents scalable and simple methodology. The prepared membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA) with plasma treated PEM showed higher power densities at relatively low humidity conditions of 50 %.
