A cyanostilbene-based reactive AIEgens with pyridine moiety (PCRM) is newly designed and synthesized to fabricate nanostructure fluorescent sensing films. The synthesized PCRM exhibits characteristics of aggregation-induced emission and reversible responses to acid/base. The complexed PRM-8OBs can have a smectic mesophase because of a similar shape to rod-like liquid crystals. From the optimized mixture, two-dimensional (2D) nanostructure sensing films are fabricated via subsequent self-assembly, photopolymerization, and etching methods. The nanoporous sensing films have a higher sensitivity to acid vapor than nonporous films. Moreover, it is confirmed that 2D nanostructure sensing films had different sensitivities to acid vapor depending on the molecular direction. We demonstrate a novel fluorescent sensor that displays the risk degree according to the concentration of acid vapor in the atmosphere.
