In the modern cosmetics industry, rheology is increasingly recognized as an effective tool for the design, manufacturing, and analysis of cosmetics formulation. We introduce three distinct applications of rheological analysis in cosmetic formulations design. In the first example, rheological analysis is integrated with machine learning technique to assess five distinct sensory textures: spreadability, thickness, softness, adhesiveness, and stickiness. The novel integration of two techniques provides effective prediction of sensory textures based on the rheological measurements. The second example demonstrates a novel tuning of rheometry developed to analyze the effect of rheological properties of formulations on the skin permeation. The correlation between rheological properties and skin permeation is explored with the apparatus. In the last application, we introduce a strategic design of an inorganic sunscreen that enhances even application through the Marangoni flow.
