The development of lightweight EMI shielding materials is essential for future mobility, which demands reduced weight. Carbon nanotube (CNT) fibers are being extensively researched as ultra-lightweight electromagnetic shielding materials. This presentation will examine the properties of CNT fibers developed by our group, the process of manufacturing films for electromagnetic shielding applications, post-processing techniques to enhance material properties, and the resultant shielding characteristics. The synthesized CNT fibers exhibit electrical conductivity exceeding 10,000 S/cm and a density below 1.0 g/cm³. The resulting films, with a thickness of less than 50 µm, exhibit an exceptional shielding effectiveness exceeding 100 dB. These lightweight and outstanding properties can contribute to the lightweighting of future mobility by being applied to composite materials or used as cable shielding materials.
