Superior Dye Adsorption Performance of Hierarchical Porous SPZ Composite Microgels Fabricated via Microfluidic Techniques

Hierarchical porous composite microgels with high adsorption capacities for dyes were synthesized successfully using a microfluidic technique. These innovative microgels comprise a novel zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) combined with sodium alginate (SA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The microfluidic approach enabled the production of highly uniform and well-defined microgels, which is crucial for achieving consistent performance in applications. The integration of ZIF-8 nanoparticles into the composite microgels provided distinct advantages, including the formation of significant pore structures that enhanced the adsorption performance compared to control microgels lacking ZIF-8.
