A high photogenerated carrier efficiency and a low recombination rate are crucial to enhance the photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue (MB) dye. Furthermore, a high surface area that ensures rapid adsorption further enhances MB removal efficiency. This dissertation innovatively proposes a facile one-pot synthesis of γ-cyclodextrin-mediated Molybdenum Tungsten Oxide(γ-MoWO3-x). The cyclodextrin not only acts as a capping agent, creating a highly amorphous and small crystalline size to increase the catalyst's surface area, but also functions as an effective reducing agent that introduces a significant number of oxygen vacancies in the metal oxide. As a result, the proposed catalyst demonstrated an excellent synergistic MB dye removal capacity compared to other catalysts fabricated so far.
