Aromatic polyamides are generally insoluble in common organic solvents, which limits their application in various fields. To overcome this limitation, a flexible ether linkage was introduced into the polymer backbone, enhancing the solubility of these polyamides in organic solvents. The resulting soluble aromatic polyamide was employed as a cathode binder for fabricating electrodes in lithium-ion batteries. This innovation was driven by the need to improve adhesion between active materials and current collectors, a key factor influencing battery performance and longevity. Compared to traditional poly(vinylidene fluoride) binders, the new aromatic polyamide binder demonstrated superior adhesion properties. This improvement ensures better contact among battery components and maintains structural integrity, boosting electrical performance and cycle stability.
