Porous polymers have attracted significant interest across fields due to their wide range of applications. However, conventional methods for creating porous structures are characterized by high energy consumption and the use of toxic substances, resulting in adverse environmental effects. Our research presents a novel approach to fabricating a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) sponge using a water droplet templating method. This method involves utilizing a general spray machine to generate water droplets and curing the PDMS prepolymer with ultraviolet light. This approach is notably facile, fast, and efficient compared to traditional methods. The resulting porous PDMS sponge demonstrates an impressive porosity level of 80.8%, leading to an exceptional chloroform absorption capacity of 39.0 g/g. This study suggests a straightforward and eco-friendly strategy for manufacturing porous polymers, to address the environmental challenges associated with traditional production methods.
