Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) is an effective and versatile polymerization technique for synthesizing functional linear polymers from cyclic monomers with double bonds. An alkyne-tethered degradable polymer was developed via ROMP from an acetal-containing cyclic monomer. The alkyne functionality allowed for a chemical linkage between the degradable polymer and azide-tethered materials, such as MOFs and DNAs, via a Click reaction (i.e., CuAAC). We are currently studying the physical properties of these hybrid materials in terms of stability, solubility, and target selectivity for further applications.
