1D Dion-Jacobson Chiral Perovskite for Circularly Polarized Light Detection

Chiral hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have been investigated extensively as promising materials for spin resolved optoelectronics. However, most chiral ligands for HOIPs are limited to ruddlesden-popper (RP) phase structures because it is believed that RP phase-induced ligands adversely affect the formation of chiral perovskite crystals. In this study, we adapted biphenyl ring-based chiral amines, (R/S)-BPBEAs (BPBEA=1,1'-([1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diyl)bis(ethan-1-aminium) iodide), which synthesized DJ phase 1D perovskite, were designed. This is the first report on DJ phase 1D chiral perovskites. This DJ-type ligand-based chiral perovskites exhibit a remarkable enhancement in circular dichroism better than simple benzylamine ligand-based chiral perovskites over 100 times. The resulting CPL detectors showed excellent asymmetric factor coupled with the high dissymmetry factors of photocurrent (gPh) (~0.74).
