Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) with a high lithium transference number (tLi+) provide the advantage of remarkable electrochemical stability by suppressing Li dendrite growth, resulting in high-performance Li metal batteries (LMBs). In this study, the synthesized GPE_BC with boron crosslinker (BC) has a high ionic conductivity of 3.1 x 10-4 S/cm at 30 °C and a high storage modulus of 1.6 x 105 Pa at 25 °C. The single-ion conducting GPE_BC has a much higher tLi+ of 0.79 than dual-ion conducting GPE (tLi+ = 0.26). Also, LiFePO4/Li coin cell assembled with GPE_BC demonstrates a high specific capacity across various C-rates (e.g., 139 mAh/g at 1 C) at 30 °C. Our work offers a rational strategy for developing GPE designs for high-performance LMBs.
