MXene is widely used in polymer-based composites due to its high electrochemical properties and often mixed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). PVA is employed for its good compatibility with MXene, which enhances flexibility and mechanical strength. However, MXene’s poor chemical stability leads to structural changes, presenting challenges for MXene/PVA composites. Since the interaction between MXene and PVA affects the particle structure and rheological properties of suspensions over time, understanding how this interaction influences their aging process is crucial for advancing the use of these composites. In this study, we examined the aging effects of dispersed MXene/PVA composites by varying PVA’s molecular weight. Small angle X-ray scattering and rheometer showed that dispersions with lower molecular weight of PVA exhibited high stability in nanostructures and rheological properties. Our findings offer insights into improving the stability of MXene-based composites for various applications by incorporating polymers.
