Structural color results from optical scattering, which is the interaction between incident light and nanostructured materials. Unlike chemical pigments, structural color has high thermal stability, non-toxicity, and resistance to fading. Recently, tunable structural color technology based on humidity-responsive photoreactive polymer has been reported to freely adjust the thickness and swelling ratio of the film. In this work, we prepare structural color films capable of more elaborate color change by utilizing photoreactive methacrylated polysaccharides with variation in the degree of methacrylation. In addition, water-transfer printing is exploited in which tunable structural color film can be transferred onto various substrates, regardless of the surface energy.
