Combining the patches on colloidal particles is an effective strategy for producing colloidal chains. We recently demonstrated the fabrication of colloidal chains from patchy micelles of diblock copolymers by merging the patches between neighboring micelles. To induce patchy micelles, we cross-linked the micellar cores and then adjusted the solvent to be preferential to the core while remaining compatible with the corona. In this presentation, we report on the morphological changes in colloidal chains formed from diblock copolymer micelles by modifying the cross-linking density of the micellar cores. We observed elongated core regions in the colloidal chains when we reduced the amount of cross-linking agents, presumably due to increased swelling of the cores. Additionally, the number of patches on the micelles increased from two to three as the cross-linking density of the cores was reduced. We investigated the structural variations of colloidal chains primarily using TEM images.
