Electric Vehicle Motor Core Adhesive Breakthrough: Exceptional Adhesion and Oil Resistance in Laminated Electrical Steels

We have developed a cutting-edge adhesive for dot-bonded motor cores in electric vehicles using laminated electrical steels. This adhesive demonstrates exceptional adhesion and oil resistance, attributes primarily due to the rigid chemical structure of isosorbide, known for its excellent hydrophilicity. To assess the adhesive properties, we conducted lap shear strength tests on the laminated electrical steel and peel strength tests on the dot-bonded motor core, comparing them against a petroleum-based alicyclic polyol adhesive. Incorporating an isosorbide derivative into an acrylate-modified polyurethane as a polyol, we enhanced the adhesive's compatibility with other components and facilitated a rapid curing process. This innovation not only ensures superior performance but also aligns with the evolving demands of the electric vehicle industry.
