Small angle scattering (SAS) using neutron or X-ray techniques have been a very powerful tool to probe the bulk structure of nanoscale (1-100’s nm) materials in various research fields. In particular, the study on amphiphilic molecules including block polymers, surfactants and their self-assembled structures, are very suitable to be applied by the SAS technique. In this presentation, the structural characterization of the amphiphilic molecules using small angle neutron and X-ray scattering techniques will be introduced with a few examples including the phase behavior of the block copolymer and highly ordered self-assembly of nanoparticles in amphiphilic molecules.
