Polymer-based nanocomposites can achieve superior dielectric performance for energy storage and harvesting devices by dispersing robust, enduring, and multifunctional nanomaterials within a polymer matrix. However, the persistent challenge of nanomaterial dispersion and the resulting non-uniform properties have impeded further improvements. In this study, we develop a polymer-based nanocomposite with ideal dispersion of nanomaterials using aerosol-jet-based multi-material three-dimensional (AM3D) printing, in which the composition, structure, and dispersity of the nanocomposite are programmed through controlling flow rate of each aerogel. Design of AM3D printhead allows to avoid interfacial compatibility issue of heterogeneous aerosols and enables distributed printing without the formation of agglomeration of nanomaterials. This approach further facilitates the achievement of multi-layered structures for higher performance, with minimal damage to the bottom layers due to swelling.
