In this study, a facile strategy for developing a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) is proposed with lamellar-forming polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P2VP) films. An optimized thermal annealing process leads to defect-free lamellar structure oriented parallel to the substrate in the film. The methanesulfonic acid selectively swells P2VP domains upon protonation and forms highly asymmetric gigantic lamellae to reflect visible light with high reflectance of 65 %. The crosslinking between the P2VP blocks is introduced before swelling the films to tune the wavelength of visible region lights that are reflected by DBR film. We produce red (R), green (G), and blue (B) DBR films on a Si solar cell. Coloration from high-reflectance DBR films results in vividly colored Si solar cells with a negligible reduction in power conversion efficiency. Our approach for photovoltaics offers a viable method for fabricating high-performance DBR films based on block copolymer self-assembly.
