Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is valued for its high processing temperature, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties, making it a preferred metal substitute in automotive parts. For long-term use, PEEK requires improvements. This study introduces graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) to enhance PEEK composites. GNP agglomerates due to van der Waals forces and π-π stacking, affecting the composite negatively. An amphiphilic copolymer compatibilizer, with hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks, was synthesized and applied to GNP for surface treatment. This compatibilizer bonds non-covalently with GNP and entangles with the PEEK matrix, improving dispersibility and compatibility. The study developed a PEEK composite with GNP, examining changes in physical properties with varying GNP content. Compatibilizer-treated GNP significantly improved dispersibility and composite performance, enhancing PEEK's long-term usability in demanding applications like automotive parts.
