Adiponectin-Based Peptide-Conjugated Heparin Hydrogel for Keloid Scar Treatment

Keloid scars are derived from overgrowths of scar tissue that develop at the site of a skin injury, extending beyond the original wound area. Various strategies have been used for keloid scar treatments, including laser therapy, Intralesional corticosteroid injection, and cryotherapy, but they often involve limitations such as associated pain and side effects. Therefore, in this work, we introduce adiponectin-based peptide (ADP355)-conjugated heparin hydrogels for the treatment of keloid scars. ADP355, which has shown potential effects on the treatment of liver fibrosis and systemic sclerosis, has been known effective against keloids by inhibiting collagen expression and TGF- β1. By conjugating ADP355 with heparin and formulating a hydrogel, we aim to enhance drug delivery efficiency and therapeutic effects on keloid scars. This innovative approach holds promise for a less invasive and more effective treatment of keloid scars.
