Crosslinked polyurethanes (PU) are important materials having diverse industrial applications used as elastomers, coatings, and adhesives due to their better thermal and thermomechanical properties as compared to linear thermoplastic polyurethane. But, they cannot be recyclable by conventional thermal processing owing to permanently crosslinked structure, which lead to environmental pollution. Recently, thermally reprocessable and recyclable thermoset, known as vitrimers, have been paid great attentions. In this study, elastomeric PU vitrimers were prepared by crosslinking of NCO terminated PU, obtained by the reaction of PTMG (MW 2,000) with excess amounts of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), with a multifunctional alcohol or amine bearing dynamic boronic ester bonds. As prepared crosslinked PU exhibit elastomeric behavior with good thermal reprocessability and self-healing ability.
