Recently, development of non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) for near-infrared (NIR) organic photodetectors (OPDs) attracts significant interest because of their excellent absorption properties. We developed NFA (YOR1) by substituting an asymmetric electron-donating moiety to the Y6 framework. YOR1 exhibited beneficial nanoscale phase separation for charge separation in bulk heterojunction films with PTB7-Th. Moreover, substituting asymemetric donor unit effectively extended the absorption wavelengths over 1000 nm. Consequently, YOR1-OPD exhibited significantly low dark current and improved responsivity, resulting in 1.98 × 1013 and 3.38 × 1012 Jones specific detectivity at 950 and 1000 nm, respectively. Baseed on these merits, we successfully demonstrated sensitive photoplethysmography sensors based on YOR1-OPD.
