초록

내용
Hollow fiber membranes, which are tubular, self-supporting membranes, have attracted attention due to their large specific surface area, high packing density, easy preparation of membrane modules, ease of process operation, and low energy consumption. In this study, the preparation and physicochemical properties of hollow fiber membranes based on poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were investigated. For this purpose, two different series of PMIA/TiO2-based hollow fibers are prepared through dry-wet spinning using a nonsolvent-induced phase separation method. The diameter, thickness, pore size, water flux, and rejection coefficient of the hollow fiber membrane are characterized, and the results are discussed considering TiO2 content and dope solution extrusion rate as manufacturing conditions. SEM images reveal that a double-layered structure with finger-shaped and sponge-shaped pores is developed on the cross-section of hollow fibers.
