The role of zwitterionic polymer gel electrolyte for long-term stability in aqueous zinc ion battery

We presented a functional gel electrolyte composed of zwitterionic monomer for zinc ion battery, which have high ionic conductivity as well as Zn2+ transference number and induce reversible reaction at zinc anode without dendrite formation and cathode stability. The gel type hydrogel electrolyte containing a zwitterionic functional groups can form ion migration channels where cations and anions are separated under an external electric field. This enables the effective immobilization of anions, homogenizing the ion distribution on the electrode surface and inducing a high ion transference number.
