In this study, we synthesized quinoxaline (Qx)-based donor-acceptor (D-A) type conjugated polymers to achieve high-performance p-type polymer donors for organic photovoltaic devices. To optimize functional substituents, we introduced strong electron-withdrawing groups, such as fluorine and cyano units, into the quinoxaline core. Additionally, incorporating chlorine atoms on the thienyl groups of the electron-donating bithienyl-dithieno[2,3-d;2′,3′-d′]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene (DTBDT) units was found to further control morphological and photovoltaic parameters. Our findings provide valuable insights into the structural-property relationships of conjugated polymers, aiding in the development of p-type donors to improve the photovoltaic performance of organic solar cells. The results indicate that strategic structural modifications of the polymer backbone can lead to significant advancements in solar cell efficiency.
