In this study, we focus on the preparation process of water-based solutions used to form organic semiconductor films of OFETs and the development of surfactant-based aqueous colloid technology for easy removal. We explore the potential to minimize environmental impact and improve scalability and cost-effectiveness in large-scale manufacturing by replacing traditional organic solvents with water. Additionally, the impact of water-based processing on the electrical properties and stability of OFET devices is carefully evaluated, thereby highlighting the opportunities and challenges when water is used as a solvent in this field. In conclusion, this study highlights the important role that solvent selection plays on the environmental impact and technical feasibility of OFETs. This suggests that the incorporation of water-based manufacturing methods will play a critical role in the integration of sustainable practices moving towards revolutionizing the future of electronic devices.
