Rational Design of Ionic Conductors for Functional Electrochemical Devices

Polymer gel electrolytes (PGEs) have been widely utilized in diverse electrochemical applications. In particular, ion gels composed of room temperature ionic liquids (ILs) and copolymers are considered promising PGEs due to their outstanding ionic conductivity, high capacitance, negligible vapor pressure, tunable mechanical robustness, and good solution processability. Herein, we introduce how to design molecular structure of effective copolymer gelators for achieving highly functional, high-performance ion gels. Also, this presentation will cover various electrochemical applications based on functional ion gels.
