In this study, an eco-friendly Bio PC/ABS blend was manufactured by melt extruding ABS directly synthesized with isosorbide-based Bio Polycarbonate (Bio PC) replacing bisphenol A-based petroleum polycarbonate. The impact strength of Bio PC was improved and insufficient physical properties were supplemented through chain extenders. Using a micro compounder injection molder, a specimen was prepared by adding 0.2 to 0.6 phr of chain extender to the Bio PC/ABS blend 90:10 content ratio, and mechanical and thermal properties were evaluated. This resulted in a 530% improvement in impact strength compared to Bio PC while minimizing the decrease in tensile strength caused by blending with ABS, and also confirmed an increase in heat resistance through TGA analysis. The fracture surface of the sample was observed using SEM as the basis for improving these physical properties, and as a result, it was confirmed that the addition of chain extender improved ABS dispersibility in the Bio PC matrix.
