The use of polymers in daily life is increasing annually, and the fire hazards posed by flammable materials present a significant challenge for widespread applications. To mitigate fire risks, phosphorus and nitrogen compounds are extensively employed in this field. Aluminium diethylphosphinate (AlPi) demonstrates good flame retardant efficiency compared to melamine cyanurate (MCA). However, AlPi suffers from poor interfacial affinity with polymer matrices, leading to the deterioration of mechanical properties. In this study, we introduce a dry method microencapsulation technique designed to enhance the interfacial affinity between additives and polymer matrices. By leveraging this method, we achieve an efficient flame retardant with an N-P structure that not only improves flame retardancy but also enhances mechanical properties. This improvement is attributed to the optimized interaction between the microencapsulated additives and the polymer matrices.
