Recently, the biggest concern of companies is carbon neutrality and ESG management for sustainable society. These two issues are closely related to environmental problems such as abnormal climate and marine pollution caused by global warming. The Ministry of Environment's 3R policy (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to reduce plastic waste is a necessary policy for resource circulation, but it has limitations. In particular, the development of contact-free society makes it virtually impossible to recycle plastics for food contact packaging. In the case of a linear economic structure such as disposable product regulation, it is impossible to fundamentally reduce plastic usage. It is time to review sustainable plastics that will present a new direction for materials in the business area where plastic recycling is not possible. In this presentation, Ie would like to introduce DOE'12 monomer-based bioplastic research.
