Interest in bottlebrush block copolymers (BBCPs) has been in the scope of recent bottlebrush polymer (BBP) studies. In this project, we induced perpendicularly oriented lamellar morphologies with supra-100nm domain spacing. To achieve this, polystyrene (PS) and poly (methyl acrylate) (PMA) macromonomers with norbornene end groups were prepared by nitroxide radical coupling (NRC) of norbornene-TEMPO (NB-TEMPO) and linear PS or PMA grown via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). High molecular weight BBCPs consisting of PS and PMA blocks with lamellar compositions were prepared by sequential ring opening metathesis polymerization. Perpendicular orientation of BBCPs was done on silicon wafers after a simple surface modification. BBCPs with good dispersity and macromonomer conversion were confirmed by MALS. The existence of perpendicularly oriented supra-100nm lamellar nano-patterns was proven by AFM and SEM. We hope to apply this system in the field of organic polarizer material.
