Here we developed a PM6:N3:P(NDI2OD-T2) ternary blend film, and it was shown that P(NDI2OD-T2) forms intricate channels in the donor domain, thereby inducing improved exciton dissociation, balanced charge transport, and less charge recombination. Furthermore, it was also found that P(NDI2OD-T2) helps forming an optimal morphology with uniform nanocrystallites of the polymer donor over a large area. Consequently, a blade-coated organic photovoltaic (OPV) module with an active area of 58.5 cm2 showed a remarkable efficiency of 14.04%, compared to that of the control device (12.59%), which is the highest efficiencies among the reported in OPV modules with active areas over 50 cm2.
