Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) is a widely used composite material with superior properties over most metals. However, because of the intrinsic crosslinked nature of the epoxy resins that are used, conventional CFRP cannot be melt-recycled. Herein, we report a solvent-free and closed-loop recycling epoxy vitrimer system cured by two different imine-containing monomers. A novel imine-containing epoxy, IE, from vanillin and diamine was prepared and then cured with an imine-amine hardener (IA). Note that there is no solvent needed during IAIE preparation since those liquid imine monomers are mixed easily at room temperature. Dynamic imine exchange reaction enabled IAIE resin to obtain self-healing and shape recovery properties. In addition, IAIE was fully dissolved in the imine-containing amine to reach the goal of closed-loop recycling.
