Organic Pseudohalide Ligands for Surface Treatments of Green and Blue Perovskite Light-emitting Diodes

In this study proposes a simple solution to the issue of incomplete surface passivation in perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs), which hinders their performance in high-performance light emitting diodes (LEDs). The proposed solution involves modifying the surface of CsPbBr3 NCs with an organic pseudohalide named didodecyldimethylammonium tetrafluoroborate (DDA-BF4). The results indicate that this modification significantly improves the optical characteristics and stability of CsPbBr3 NCs. When these surface-modified PeNCs were used in green LEDs, they showed significantly improved external quantum efficiencies and stable luminescence at 516 nm. The same improvement was observed when the method was applied to sky-blue LED based on CsPbBr3-xClx NC. It is believed that this organic pseudohalide treatment is a universal method that can be used for both green and blue PeNC-based LEDs, providing a promising platform for future lighting and display technologies.
