In this research, we report on vapor-phase polymerization of pyrrole for polypyrrole deposition on carbon fiber mesh (CFM) to construct a laminated core-shell structure. First, fiber mesh was electrospun using a mixture of polyacrylonitrile and vulcanized sulfur polymers. Subsequently, electrospun polypyrrole fiber meshes were carbonized at 1000 oC in a temperature-programmed tube furnace, resulting in CFM. Finally, supercapacitors based on polypyrrole-laminated CFMs showed high capacitance and good potential for fiber-type energy storage application.
