Glass had been most widely used in transparent parts of displays, cars, and aircraft. These days, the need to replace glass with polycarbonate/polymethylmethacrylate(PC/PMMA) sheet is growing for less weight, and safe when it is destroyed. Especially, PC/PMMA film is easy to form and manufacture process, it can be produced in various shapes. However, PC/PMMA film is easily scratched because of their low hardness, reducing visibility. To overcome this problem, we synthesize organic/inorganic hybrid acrylate polymer containing oligosiloxane nanocluster to improve the hardness of PC/PMMA film over pencil hardness of 4H. These coating materials demonstrate hydrophobic, bendable and highly transparent properties extending the applications. In conclusion, the PC/PMMA film with high hardness and transparency is expected to replace the glass and can be applied in flexible and curved displays.
