초록

내용
Thermally cross-linked membranes were developed for vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) applications by using sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) as a polymer matrix and poly(2,5-benzimidazole)-grafted graphene oxide (ABPBI-GO) as a filler. The thermally cross-linked composite membranes had greatly increased chemical and mechanical stability due to cross-linked structures and acid-base interactions between the benzimidazole groups in the filler and sulfonic acid groups in the polymer chain. The addition of ABPBI-GO in the polymer matrix also reduced vanadium ion permeability while maintaining high proton conductivity, leading to a high-performing VRFB membrane. The ionic selectivity of the TC-SPEEK/0.5 membrane (containing 0.5 wt% of ABPBI-GO) was 8 times higher than Nafion 212, resulting in improved coulombic efficiencies, voltage efficiencies, and energy efficiencies.
