Recently, as the secondary battery market tends to expand for energy storage systems (ESS) and electric vehicles (EV, HEV), high capacity and cycle properties of LIB are required. So, there have been many studies for high-capacity anode materials such as Si and Sn that can replace graphite. We fluorinated silicon and coated carbon by coating pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) and heating process. The surface property of fluorinated samples was examined through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and carbon coating was examined through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The quantity of carbon coating was increased by direct fluorination, and by charge/discharge test, capacity retention has improved.
