All-in-One Conjugated Electronic Molecules for High Efficiency Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells: Electron Transporter, Interface Dipole Modifier, and Defect Passivator

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted great interest because of their rapid increase of power conversion efficiency (PCE). For attaining high PCE device, PSCs require multilayer structures containing charge transport layer (CTL) and interface dipole layer (IDL). For example, in inverted PSCs, PC61BM/BCP or C60/BCP is most widely used CTL/IDL combination. Moreover, for further PCE improvement defect passivation layer (DPL) is additionally employed. Even though this multilayering enables high photovoltaic performances, it demands long process time and additional cost. Herein, we report all-in-one organic electronic molecule (L1 and L2) working as CTL and IDL. Rather than use of CTL, IDL, and DPL separately. We successfully achieved high PCE (18.46%) inverted PSCs using L2 solely due to the enhancement of charge transport and defect passivation property. These results suggest that all-in-one L2 can be a useful interlayer for both high efficient and cost-effective PSCs fabrication.
