Various reactive monomers are being researched and developed for the purpose of imparting functionality to polymer materials. Among them, Thiodiglycolic anhydride is a useful material used as a functional monomer to supplement the physical properties of polyester. Thiodiglycolic anhydride has been mainly used to prepare buprenorphine, an antagonistic analgesic, and erdosteine, a bronchitis treatment, among pharmaceuticals, but is used as a useful monomer that imparts high functionality to polymers. In order to synthesize Thiodiglycolic anhydride used as a functional monomer in high purity, the company was able to manufacture product with high purity by developing an efficient process under mild acetylation conditions.
