Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) are tremendous attention an ideal platform for biological sensing, artificial neuromorphic electronics, and complementary logic circuits. because of their low operation voltage, low power consumption, high transconductance (gm) and facile device integration. In this study, we demonstrate quasi-solid-state ion gel-gated vertical OECTs based on two p-type indacenodithiophene (IDT) polymers with alkyl (PIDTC16-BT) and oligoethylene glycol substituents (PIDTPEG-BT). Without any post treatments, PIDTC16-BT demonstrated a noticeably higher gm of 163.5 mS and superior operational stability compared to that of PIDTPEG-BT. The higher gm of PIDTC16-BT was mainly ascribed to its higher mh,despite the smaller C* compared to that of PIDTPEG-BT. Our approach introduces a new direction for the future development of OECT-based next-generation flexible electronics.
