Rapid and Sensitive Detection of Hydrogen Sulfide Gas using Isatin-Based Colorimetirc Chemosensor

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a colorless toxic gas with a distinctive unpleasant odor leads serious health effects even at low concentrations. As a rapidly emerging medical problem, detection of H2S gas with colorimetric sensor systems is becoming increasingly important due to its simple, rapid detection and cost-effectiveness. In this study, we developed a new colorimetric sensor (CS1) based on isatin core. CS1 exhibited resolvable absorption in visible range in response to H2S gas, resulting in color change from yellow to organe. Efficient color change of CS1 in film and dyed-fabric when exposed to H2S gas suggested practical applicability.
