The characteristics of organic semiconductor thin films are largely determined by the grain size of the thin films and the orientation of organic semiconductor molecules. Recently, many studies have been conducted on depositing organic semiconductor thin films using graphene, a two-dimensional carbon material, as a template. When graphene is used as a template for organic semiconductor thin films, the orientation of π-conjugated molecules and the grain size of the thin film can be controlled by π-π interactions between graphene and the organic semiconductor. In this presentation, the growth mechanism of organic semiconductor thin films on graphene templates will be discussed. In particular, the effects of the charge carrier concentration and surface roughness of the graphene surface on the growth of organic semiconductor thin films will be presented.
