Polycarbonate (PC) polyols of tunable degree of branching (DB) have been synthesized via ring-opening multibranching copolymerization of glycidol and CO2 using M1-M2 Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as heterogenoeus catalysts. The crystal morphorlogy of the solid catalysts was determined by scanning electron microscope and powder X-ray diffraction. Density fucntional theory calculations were conducted to elucidate the structure-activity relationship as well as corroborate the reaction mechanism. PBAs are stable and recyclable heterogeneous catalysts for producing PC in high yields under solvent free condition. The resultant branched PC products have reasonable carbonate content up to 37% and degree of branching of 0.18−0.63.
