Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a promising dielectric material for triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) due to its excellent chemical and electrical stability. However, the performance of PVDF-based TENG suffers from poor tribo-response owing to polymorphic crystal phases which can be overcome using only β-phase PVDF. Herein, we embed formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) at different weight percentages into PVDF polymer matrix to promote the formation of β-phase in PVDF. The PVDF-FAPbI3 composite film was prepared using 3D direct-ink writing technique and coupled with polydimethylsiloxane film to form a TENG device. After the embedding of FAPbI3 perovskite, the crystallinity of PVDF film was improved, and the relative β-phase content of PVDF film increased from ~45% to ~83%. As a result, the peak-to-peak voltage (Vp-p) output of TENG based on PVDF-FAPbI3 film achieved ~179 V, as compared to pristine PVDF based TENG device (Vp-p: 56 V).
