This study is a polycarbonate copolymer and its manufacturing method, which is an eco-friendly polycarbonate copolymer including repeating units derived from a diol component containing anhydrosugar alcohol and aromatic diol in a specific content ratio and a carbonic acid diester component. Anhydrous sugar alcohol is an eco-friendly material derived from natural materials and can be prepared by dehydrating hydrogenated sugars derived from natural materials. Despite of its non-toxicity and eco-friendliness, isosorbide (ISB) polycarbonate is difficult to use solely due to its excessive brittleness. To overcome this drawback, it is necessary to prepare high-molecular-weight ISB-based copolycarbonates with flexible diol monomers. Therefore, in this study, anhydrosugar alcohol is used to improve eco-friendliness, and various aromatic diols are used to develop polycarbonate copolymers with excellent mechanical properties.
