With the development of the Internet of Things and portable electronic devices, the sustainable energy supplies without the recharging and replacement of the charge storage device have become increasingly important. Among various energy harvesters, triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are attracting attention due to their high instantaneous output, wide selection of available materials, environmentally friendly and inexpensive manufacturing processes, and various modes of operation tailored to the target application. Here, we propose a novel TENG composed of piezoelectric composite layer with controlled piezoelectric polarization. During contacting and separation, piezoelectric charges are induced on the composite layers, which in turn drive electrostatic induction and enhance the performance of the TENG. Therefore, it is possible to have high output energy by controlling the surface more negatively or positively compared to the existing physical properties.
