Demand for eco-friendly and multifunctional materials to solve the environmental problems regarding food packaging materials is growing quickly. In this research, polylactic acid (PLA) composite film was derived from renewable resources, corn starch. Antibiotic-lipid nanocarriers of essential oil and beeswax capsulated with a size of 434.1 nm was synthesized. The synthesized antibiotic-lipid nanocarriers had progressive antimicrobial release performance for about 8 hours and anti-biofouling characteristics. Antibacterial properties more than 99%, respectively, against E. coli and S. epidermidis was confirmed. Which is synergistic effect of chemical antibacterial activity by essential oil and physical antibacterial activity caused by surface nanoroughness. We anticipate that our work will enhance hygiene safety in food industry such as food preparation, processing, storage, and distribution of the products etc.
