Prussian Blue Analog (PBA) complexes are well-known solid compound because of their diverse applications in both academy and industry. We have investigated a series of PBAs as heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of polyester polyols. The PBA catalysts exhibit good to excellent performance toward ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone with turn over frequency (calculated by mol monomer per mol M1 per minute) up to 90 min−1, producing Polycaprolactone (PCL) polyols with certain hydroxyl functionality, controlled molecular weight of 1,000−34,000 g mol−1,and narrow molecular weight distribution of 1.08−2.31. Kinetics studies are also conducted to clarify the catalytic mechanism.
